Frequently Asked Questions
1. What services do you offer?
The Mercy Chair is a Christ-centered outreach that serves people in need through practical, compassionate care. We provide free haircuts and personal care services, distribute clothing and hygiene essentials through our Blessing Closet, prepare and deliver Blessing Bags for those experiencing homelessness, and serve hot meals twice a month to our community.
Beyond meeting physical needs, we build relationships, offer prayer and encouragement, and help connect individuals with resources such as recovery programs, shelter, and medical support. Our goal is not just to meet a momentary need, but to remind each person that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.
2. How do I get involved?
There are many ways to make a meaningful impact. Volunteers can serve by cutting or washing hair, helping around the salon, organizing the Blessing Closet, packing Blessing Bags, preparing meals, serving meals, or assisting with outreach efforts.
If you prefer to support financially, one-time or recurring donations allow us to continue meeting practical needs and expanding our outreach. You can also donate items such as toiletries, clothing, or supplies for meals and Blessing Bags. Every act of generosity makes a difference.
3. What makes The Mercy Chair different?
What makes The Mercy Chair different is our commitment to meeting people exactly where they are, without judgment and without conditions. We provide one-on-one, relational care rooted in the love of Christ.
We don’t just offer services; we offer presence. We take time to listen, pray, and build trust. Our heart is to restore dignity, spark hope, and remind each person that they are part of something bigger than their current circumstances.
4. Who do you serve?
We serve individuals facing challenges such as homelessness, addiction, financial hardship, recovery, and family crisis. We also partner with local recovery centers, shelters, and community organizations to extend our reach.
Anyone in need of support, encouragement, or practical care is welcome.
5. Is there a cost for services?
No. All hair services, meals, and items distributed through our outreach are provided free of charge. We operate entirely through donations and the generosity of supporters who believe in our mission.
6. How are donations used?
Every donation directly supports our outreach efforts—purchasing food for meals, supplies for Blessing Bags, salon products, clothing for the Blessing Closet, and transportation or assistance for individuals entering recovery programs.
We are committed to stewarding every dollar with integrity and transparency.
7. Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. The Mercy Chair operates as a registered religious nonprofit organization. We provide receipts upon request as well as year-end giving statements for tax purposes.
8. Do I have to be a Christian to receive services?
No. We serve everyone with compassion and respect, regardless of background, beliefs, or life circumstances. While our ministry is rooted in faith, our care is offered freely and without obligation.
9. How can I contact you?
You can reach us through our contact page, by email, or by phone. We aim to respond as quickly as possible—typically within one business day. If you’d like to learn more about our ministry or partner with us, we would love to connect.
